July 5th. 2018 - Congratulations to John Turner, Steve Turner, and Kieran John Turner, of Wigan, who completed in 9hrs. 48 mins, the CARNEDDAU CHALLENGE WALK - 20 miles and 4,500 ft of ascent - from the sea to the summit of Carneddau Llewellyn and back. Many congratulations to them all.
June 24th. 2018 - Congratulations to Dr. Martin Cross of Otley who walked my 24 mile - STAFFORDSHIRE MOORLANDS CHALLENGE WALK - in 8 hours 40 mins. Many congratulations to him.
June 17th. 2018 - Congratulations to Phil Rutter and Gill Colling of Darlington who walked my 51 mile WALK AROUND THE ISLE OF JERSEY.

JUNE 11TH-14TH. 2018 - Congratulations to Alan Holmes, Deborah Cresswell, Jack Reaney and Edna Reaney of Sheffield, who walked 35 miles, the entire length of the MONMOUTH & ABERGAVENNY CANAL, IN THE BRECON BEACONS NATIONAL PARK.

June 17th. 2018 Many congratulations to Clare Cox, her husband and son Jack who completed my "LINCOLNSHIRE WOLDS BLACK DEATH CHALLENEGE WALK' - 26 miles in 10 hours 20 mins. They also raised approx. £400 for the Stroke Association. Well done, a great effort.
June 2 & 3rd. 2018 - Many congratulations to Anthony Butterick of Woking, who walked the Isle of Wight Coast Patk - 74 miles within 48 hours. The first day he completed 39 miles and 35 miles on day two. A great effort.

May 27th. 2018 - Congratulations to Dan Kidd and Linda Chilton who in 9 hours walked my - LAKELAND CHALLENGE WALK - 18 miles, ten peaks including Scafell Pike and 6,000 ft. of ascent. Well done to them.
May 29th. 2018 - Congratulations to Phil Mantle and Gemma Ufton of Slough, who walked my 27 mile SWEET PEA CHALLENGE WALK from Wem in Shropshire. Their time was 11 hours 45mins. Well done to them.

April 11th. 2018 - Congratulations to Bill Monday and Dee Hahn of Marrickville, NSW, Australia, who backpacked the 153 mile GRAND UNION CANAL - between 24/3/2018 - 1/4/2018. "We would not have managed it without your excellent guidebook. It was a great though exhausting walk - some days; with lots of muddy, slushy towpaths." Well done to them, the first Australian backpackers to walk it.
March 30th. 2018 - Many congratulations to John Ager and party who walked my London To Canterbury Pilgrim's route. They were walking for the St. Mary Magdalene church, Wandsworth Common, to raise money for the church regeneration fund. They raised an impressive £12,000 Well done to them.
Congratulations to Gary Jeeves of Biggleswade, who on February 24th. 2018 - walked the RIVER MIMRAM - 20 MILES - from its source to its confluence with the River Lee in Hertford.
Also on March 10th. 2018 he walked the 24 mile - KING JOHN CHALLENGE WALK, in Windsor.
Well done to him.
March 3rd. 2018 - Congratulations to Revd. John Merrill on doing the first winter circuit of his Epping Forest Challenge Walk - 22 miles - walking 41,455 steps, using 1,494 calories, covering 29,018 metres at 4.5 km/ph. Murky day with snow and no views, but a great walk in these conditions!
February 28th. 2018 - Many, many congratulations to Gemma Ufton and Phil Mantle of Batley who did the first winter crossing of my LITTLE JOHN CHALLENGE WALK - 28 MILES - in 9.5 hours in heavy snow. Great effort.
February 15th. 2018 - Congratulations to Elizabeth Knight and Katayoon Hoodfar of London who completed the 73 mile Pilgrimage route - LONDON TO CANTERBURY to Thomas Becket's shrine. Many congratulations.
March 1st. 2018 - Congratulations to Dean Milward of Nottingham, who completed on September 8th. 2017 walking the 77 mile - ISLE OF WIGHT COAST PATH in 4 days; "loved every step and blisters, none"!
Adele Tollady, Heather Hirst, Diane Wade and Katherine Finn who between July 5th-9th 2017 walked the Cumbria Way.
And to Michele Reynolda and David Wakeford to between August 29th - September 13th. 2017, over 16 of walking completed the GR20 route on Corsica, described as being the toughest trail in Europe and one of the great long walks of Europe.

"The children gained a real sense of accomplishment from completing a long distance path. Now they want to go to North Wales and climb a mountain! Good for them.

June 17th. 2017 - Congratulations to Alex Goodson (Stockport) and Stuart Johnson (Chinley) who walked my DARK PEAK CHALLENGE WALK - in 8 hours 20 mins, including 50 minutes in stops. "I'm pretty certain we were on-route the whole way day but our GPS logged the walk as 22.4 miles with 3,773 ft. of ascent - the extra 400 feet hurt! Anyway, it was excellent, so many thanks for creating the walk." Well done to them.

19/9/2015 - Congratulations to Paul Gretton and his son, Jarrold - aged 16, from Southwell - who walked the LITTLE JOHN CHALLENGE WALK - 8 MILES -in 12 hours 10 mins. They used to walk to raise £500 towards Jarrold costs for an expedition to Borneo next year This was the longest walk they have done, 17 miles being the longest - "Thank you for providing the route for what proved to be a most memorable and indeed challenging day for us both. The mist hovering over the heather in the depths of Sherwood Forest at dawn was quite beautiful." Thank you, so glad you had a great day and used it for a great cause. Good luck next year.

John who cycled 52 miles plus 10 miles to and from the start, around the rote from central London to Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs and then across London to around Richmond Park - full of deer - and back to near King's Cross. All in aid of the 2015 London Bikeathon raising money for the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Dis it an hour quicker than last year on my new racing bike; not bad for a young lad! July 26th. 2015 Congratulations to the Buddhist monk - Ajahn Manapo who has walked my 100 mile Peakland Way over the last week. Being a monk he did it according to his Forest (Thai) tradition, eating one meal a day before Noon; getting the food from the general public and carrying no money, just a sleeping bag and water. He throughly enjoyed the walk and said Kinder Scout was amazing.

July 19th. 2015 - Congratulations to Naomi Armstrong who along with Jeff baker walked my Three Counties Challenge walk in 8 hours 27 mins. This was Naomi's tenth challenge walk and a cup is being arranged. Her ten walks are - The Tissington Trail, Belvoir Witches Challenge, Monsal Trail, Rutland Water Challenge, White Peak Challenge, Limestone dale end to end, Middlewich Challenge, Longdendale Trail, Happy Hiker Challenge and Three Counties - altogether some 222 miles of walking - well done! July 19th. 2015 - Congratulations to Jeff Baker of Swadlincote who walked my 30 mile long "Three Counties Challenge walk" in the Peak District involving 4,500 feet of ascent. "What a fantastic walk it was with fabulous views. It was hard going but well worth it; took 8 hours 27 mins." Great effort.

July 9th. 2015 - Congratulations to Revd. John Merrill on walking the St. Cuthbert Way from Melrose to Lindisfarne in 72 hours - 72 miles. A brilliant scenic route through the Scottish Borders and northern England, with a crossing of the sand at low tide to Holy Isle; saw seals and no walkers! Read the story in his new book!
July4th 2015 - Congratulations to Ian Pemberton and Matthew Wilkes of Caernarvon, who walked and climbed the whole of the Glyderau Challenge walk in 14 1/2 hours. A great achievement especially for Matt who, a few years agi, broke his foot in three places and had to have his ankle fused, making walking painfull. Full of admiration for his effort; an inspiration to us all.
On June 6th. 2015, Gary Jeeves of Biggleswade made history by becoming the first person to complete 60 of my challenge walks. His first was on June 28th. 2010, and over the five years has walked 1,548 miles. A wonderful achievement and many. many congratulations.

June 13th & 14th 2015 - THE WHITE PEAK CHALLENGE WALK - 25 MILES - David Drummond-Murray and Claire Coles - "13 hours of walking and 4 hours in the pub! A wild camp stop over - was a fantastic weekend and we are looking forward to the next!" Great stuff!
June 10th. 2015 - Darren Turnley and Chris Backhouse walked 23 miles around Hayling island. "Very underrated island, throughly enjoyed the walk" - I agree" Well done to them,
June 6th. 2015 - THE ESSEX PRIORY WAY - 24 MILES - Brian Davey and his girlfiend completed the walk - "Very enjoyable. Thank you for introducing us to this little known area."
June 6th. 2015 - SNOWDON CHALLENGE - 32 MILES IN 24 HOURS, from the sea to the summit and back. Ian Pemberton of Carmel set off at 7.24am and was on the summit in a gale at 12..24pm. Back at the beach at 5.43pm. A great day out despite twisting his ankle.
June 5th. - only learn of this today - Alison Cotterill walked the whole of LLANGOLLEN CANAL - 51 MILES - between September 27th and 30th 2013. Well done to her.
May 2nd/3rd 2015 - Congratulations to Jacqueline Keeling of Teversal Village and her walking buddy, Ruth Fearn who set off from Castleton on May 2nd and walked for 10 hours. They continued on the next say, Sunday and walked a further 6 hours to complete THE LIMEY WAY - 40 MILES in 48 hours. Great achievement, well done to them.
May 16th. 2015 - Congratulations to Allan Lawry who walked the 28miles - THE DERBY CANAL RING - "Your route description is spot on!" On October 27th. 2012, Allan walked the 21 mile Epping Forest Challenge Walk, has now been awarded the Two Challenge Walk badge. Well done to him.

May10th 2015 - Congratulations to John Merrill who cycled 44 miles, including 34 miles along the Thames Bridges Stroke Association Charity Ride - a superb day out, with some 2,000 cyclists raising some £250.000 for this charity.

26/2/2015 - Congratulations to Richard Coe and Ian Henderson who walked in 9 hours the 25 mile - HAPPY HIKER CHALLENGE WALK". " The most breathtaking views in the peaks. Many thanks for the adventure. The walk resulted in Ian Henderson completed his fourth challenge walk and has received his badge and certificate. He walked Compo's Way, Upper Don Trail, Tissington Trail and Monsal Trail. Well done to both of them.
15/16th February 2015 - Many congratulations to Richard Coe and Ian Henderson, who completed a unique walk, At 11am on Sunday, 15th. February they left Hunters Bar in Sheffield, the start of COMPOS'S WAY to Holmfirth. By the time they reached Derwent reservoir and halfway it was now dark. They pressed on through the night in "the harshest snow, mud, wind and rain", reaching Holmfirth at 2.15am, Monday morning. It had taken 15 hours 15 mins , so they headed to Dunford Bridge and hiked the UPPER DON TRAIL, after a rest, starting at 5.30am. They reached Wortley at 10.15am. Thus completing their goal of walking two challenge walks within 24 hours. The total walking time being 23 hours 15mins. "This adventure of some 50 miles, pushed the limits of two very experienced hikers, and we both agree that once the "temporary" pain has gone, we will most certainly be telling this story for some time".

5/2/2015 - Congratulations to Ian Henderson of Uttoxeter who walked the whole of the Tissington Trail during the night, as part of a 25 mile night hike. He left Parsley Hay at 2..0am and reached Ashbourne at 8.40am. This was his second challenge walk and has been awarded the Two Challenge Walk badge and certificate. Wonderful!
31/1/2015 - Congratulations to John Hobbs of Slough who walked the whole of the 21 mile Epping Forest Challenge Walk, despite the mud! Well done to him.
25&26/1/2015 - Congratulations to Richard Coe and Dave Radford of Uttoxeter, who walked the Dark Peak Challenge in winter - 24 miles and more than 3,000 ft. of ascent - and overnight in harsh mud, ice and snow. They started from Fairholmes Car Park on Saturday 25th. 2015 at 6.40pm and after walking through the night reached the car park after walking 13 hours 20 mins, arriving at 9am, Sunday morning the 26th. January. They did the route in reverse going up Back Tor, then Stanage Edge and down to Hathersage and finally up and over Win Hill. "What a fanstastic adventure". Great achievement and the first known winter overnight circuit.
25/1/2015 - Congratulations to Richard Lockett who has just ordered The Peakland way guide. He writes to inform me that he first walked the route in 1974 when 14 with a school friend. Since then he has done many other walks here and abroad and now wants to repeat his 1974 walk - good for him.

10/1/2015 - Congratulations to Paul & Suzie Rowe of Hull who walked the Monsal Trail with their two labradors - Sydney & Rysy. They also informed me that the four of them over August 19th and 20th 2014 (my birthday!) succesfully walked from the coast to the top of Snowdon and back, following my Snowdon Challenge Walk, completing the walk in 11 hours 15 mins of walking. Well done to them all; I understand the dogs loved it as well.

31/7/2014 - Congratulations to Ian Pemberton who completed the Gylderau Challenge Walk in 10 hours 6 mins. The walk involves climbing all the Glyderau summits. The walk was done in memory of Thor Walton (14/10/51 - 23/12/14 - "Journey on Gentle Traveller". He was a dry stone waller and restored many paths in Snowdonia. A fitting walk for a fine man.

May 11th.2014 - Congratulations to Richard Coe, his son, Chester aged 6, and 15 members of the 1st. Uttoxeter Scout Group, who in pouring rain walked the whole of the 10 miles of the Monsal Dale Trail. A splendid achievement - many congratulations to them. The soggy photo above is them at the end! This was Chester Coe's second long walk - the other being the Tissington Trail end to end in just over 6 hours - and has been awarded the yellow 2 Challenge Badge. A fine achievement.
May 15th. 2014 - Congratulations to Mark Hurman of Aberdeen, who walked the 77 mile Isle of Wight Coast Path - between May 13th and 15th. 2014 - Well done!
May 7th. 2014 - Congratulations to John and Ivy Butterworth of Doncaster, who walked over two years the 206 mile PENNINE BRIDLEWAY from the High Peak Trail to Cumbria. A great effort.
April 14th. 2014 - congratulations to David Drury for completing the WHITE PEAK CHALLENGE WALK - 15 MILES - in 9 hours 31 mins. He also on March 13th. walked the 24 mile - RUTLAND WATER CHALLENGE WALK in 6 hours 34 mins - a great effort.
April 17th.2014 - Patrick Dickinson of Sheffield was the 23 mile - PEAK DISTRICT END TO END GRITSTONE EDGE WALK - "had fantastic views, walked some of the edges over last 30 years but never knew of Chatsworth and Dobbs edges." Also on May 7th. 2014, Patrick walked the 28 mile - LITTLE JOHN CHALLENGE WALK in 8 1/2 hours. "Great walk, felt those last few miles on my feet but worth it to complete the walk". Well done to him.
May 7th. 2014 - Richard Harris of Swadlincote walked THE JENNIFER CHALLENGE WALK - 24 MILES - in the white peak over 6 hours. A great time - well done.
May 3rd. 2014 - Lorraine and Eric Morgan of Brandon, Suffolk, walked THE DARK PEAK CHALLENGE WALK - 24 MILES - in 10 hours. Congratulations to them - the walk involves 3,300 feet of ascent from Hathersage.
April 23rd. 2014 - Congratulations to Paul and Suzie Rowe and Sydney & Rysy of Hull, who walked THE LITTLE JOHN CHALLENGE WALK - 28 MILES in 7 hours 35 mins. a great time! well done.

Monday 14th April 2014 - Congratulations to Chistopher Dowsing and daughter - Chloe Dowsing (aged 17) , of Nottinghamshire, who walked THE STAFFORDSHIRE MOORLANDS CHALLENGE WALK - 24 MILES - in 11hours 10 mins. Well done to them.
Sunday April 13th. 2014 - Congratulations to Richard Harris of Swadlincote, who walked the whole of The Limey Way - 40 miles - from Castleton to Thorpe via 20 dales, in 11 hours 54 mins, and is awarded the red badge. Great achievement.
Saturday April 12th 2014 - Congratulations of Naomi Armstrong and Robert Stewart (Brother in law) of Swadlincote and Long Eaton, walked the Monsal Trail both ways - 19.7 miles in 4 hours 50mins. A great time ... congratulations.
Saturday April 12th. 2014 - Richard Coe and Ashby from Uttoxeter walked my - Peak District Three Counties Challenge Walk - 28 miles - overnight in 11 hours 15 mins. My favourite challenge walk and hardest with 4,800 feet of ascent, including The Roaches, Shutlingsloe and Shining Tor. Well done to them. Richard has completing this done 4 Challenge walks and now has a FOUR challenge Walk badge and certificate. Great stuff!
December 20th. 2013 (Only informed 15/4/2014) Richard Coe and Chester his 6 year old son, from Uttoxeter, walked the whole length of the Tissington Trail 13 miles in 6 hours 10 mins. from Parlsey Hay to Ashbourne - Great! Well done, one of the youngest to do it!
February 17th & 18th 2014 (only informed 14/4/2014) - Suzie and Paul Rowe of Hull walked my 40 mile - THE LIMEY WAY - from Castleton to Thorpe, via 20 limestone dales through the heart of the Peak District. Many. many congratulations to them; they have now done more than 8 of my challenge walks.
29/3/2014 - Congratulations to Phillip Deed of Barnet, who in 8 hours 40 mins walked my Enfield Circular Challenge Walk - 25 miles from Cockfosters. He has achilles tendon problems but "the walk actually seems to have beneifted from all the exercise" - well done to him.
23/3/2014 - Congratulations to Jeff Baker of Measham who walked the BELVOIR WITCHES CHALLENGE WALK - 25 MILES in 6 hours 42 mins, with Richard Harris and Naomi Armstrong. - Well done to them all! Photo on left.
